Hi I'm Carolyn. I’m a cancer exercise specialist, working for myself and for organisations such as Maggies Cancer Support Centres, Breast Cancer Now and Breast Cancer Haven. I set up my company oomph personal training in 2013.

I run The Big Strong Lasses – a community of women with breast cancer who weight train together online.

I also write and blog and in 2021 my book 'Get your oomph back - a guide to exercise after a cancer diagnosis' was published.

I’m a qualified Nordic Walking instructor. Other than walking poles my weapons of choice are boxing gloves, a skipping rope, hand weights and running shoes.

I'm a keen but slow runner and an Ambassador for 5k Your Way - Move Against Cancer. I run in-person and online Couch to 5k programmes.

In May 2020, at the very start of the coronavirus lockdown, I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself. I’ve been in various stages of menopause ever since.

I've trained hundreds of people with cancer and of those, many have been experiencing menopausal symptoms or medically induced menopause.

In 2024 I launch my next project, Hormone Positive – Exercise and wellbeing programmes for women living with cancer and menopause.
