Resilience is a persons ability to cope with and recover from setbacks. People who can remain calm in the face of adversity have resilience. For some women, menopause can create huge psychological challenges that can impact their self-confidence and self-esteem.
As oestrogen declines during perimenopause it can bring a raft of unexpected, and invisible symptoms that lead to changes in their mood, anxiety and energy levels, no wonder that during this life phase many women feel intimidated and lack confidence to take part in any physical activity.
A resilient person has strong coping skills and are able to draw upon the resources available to them, giving them confidence to ask for help when needed, and find ways to manage the situation they are facing. Psychological resilience allows women to use their strengths and skills to respond to the challenges of menopause.
Skills learned include those that relate to: The capacity to or to recover quickly from difficulties; Psychological resilience is the ability to cope mentally and emotionally with life challenges, or to bounce back from difficult circumstances.
